E-Prescription
A prescription created and stored electronically rather than handwritten, printed for the patient and retained in their record.

An electronic prescription is generated in software during the consultation: the prescriber selects medicines from the formulary, sets dose, frequency and duration, and the result is printed for the patient while remaining in the record. It is distinct from electronic transmission to a pharmacy, which is a further step that Indian practice has largely not adopted.
Why it matters in a hospital
Legibility is the obvious gain and the least interesting one. The real value is that a prescription which exists as data can be checked against the formulary, carried forward to the next visit, counted for consumption planning, and read years later by someone who was not there. A handwritten slip does none of that once the carbon copy fades. Generic-name prescribing, which Indian regulation increasingly expects, is also far easier to apply consistently when the drug master holds the generic name.
How Trisvio handles it
Prescribing in Trisvio happens inside the consultation and prints on A5 for the patient, drawing on the drug master with stock on hand shown first. The prescription stays attached to the encounter, so the next visit opens with what was prescribed last time rather than a blank page.
