OPD Management Software for Hospitals
OPD is where most patients meet the hospital, and Trisvio keeps that flow organised — from the moment a patient joins the queue to the prescription they walk out with, with the consultation charged and billed automatically.
OPD management runs the outpatient queue, puts vitals, diagnosis and prescription on one consultation screen, and creates the consultation charge the moment the visit starts.
- Who uses it
- Reception checks patients into the queue; nursing staff record vitals ahead of the consultation; doctors consult, diagnose and prescribe.
- What it records
- Vitals, chief complaint, diagnosis and prescription per visit, plus any lab tests ordered from the consultation.
- What it prints / exports
- An A5 prescription handout printed at the end of the consultation.
What you get
- A clear OPD queuePatients are checked in — whether walk-in or from an appointment — and doctors work through an organised outpatient queue instead of a paper token system.
- Vitals captured ahead of the consultationNursing staff can record vitals before the doctor sees the patient, so the readings are already on the consultation screen the moment the patient walks in.
- Diagnosis, prescription, and A5 print in one placeThe doctor records the diagnosis and writes the prescription on the same consultation screen, then prints it as an A5 handout for the patient.
- Labs and billing linked to the visitA doctor can order lab tests directly from the OPD consultation, and the visit is charged and billed automatically — see Revenue Controls for how that works.
How it works
Patient joins the OPD queue
The patient is checked in, whether as a walk-in or from a booked appointment — and the consultation charge is created in the same step.
Vitals are recorded
Nursing staff record vitals ahead of the consultation.
Doctor consults
The doctor reviews the patient, records the chief complaint and diagnosis, and writes a prescription on the same screen.
Visit closes out
The prescription prints as an A5 handout, lab tests are ordered if needed, and the encounter’s charge flows straight into the patient’s bill.
Who uses it
- ReceptionistCheck patients into the OPD queue and keep the day’s outpatient flow organised.
- NurseRecord vitals so the readings are ready the moment the doctor is free; the consultation itself stays read-only for nurses.
- DoctorCapture the chief complaint, diagnosis and prescription on one screen, order labs if needed, and print the A5 prescription for the patient.
In detail
What the doctor sees on one screen
The consultation screen brings together the vitals nursing has already recorded with the doctor’s fields for chief complaint, diagnosis, clinical notes and prescription, so the doctor isn’t hunting across separate forms mid-consultation. Ordering a lab test happens from the same screen, and the order creates its bill through the same payment ledger used across the hospital, rather than sending the patient to a separate lab billing counter.
The consultation is charged the moment the visit is created
Starting an OPD or follow-up visit and creating its consultation charge happen together — a visit can’t exist without either a charge or a recorded waiver for a patient who leaves unseen. Nothing here changes what the doctor sees or does; it means the front office doesn’t have to remember to bill a visit separately from checking a patient in. See Revenue Controls for how Trisvio handles the rest of the billing chain from there.
Frequently asked questions
What does a doctor capture during an OPD consultation?
Vitals (if not already recorded by nursing staff), chief complaint, diagnosis, and prescription — all on one consultation screen, with the prescription available to print as an A5 handout for the patient.
Can lab tests be ordered directly from an OPD visit?
Yes. A doctor can order lab tests from within the OPD consultation instead of sending the patient elsewhere to arrange it separately.
Does an OPD visit connect to billing automatically?
Yes. Starting an OPD or follow-up visit creates its consultation charge in the same step, so the visit is always accounted for — front-desk staff never have to remember to bill it separately.
Is the consultation fee ever billed at the wrong amount, or missed entirely?
The consultation service and its price come from a rate configured under hospital settings, resolved automatically when the visit starts — if none is configured, Trisvio refuses to start the visit rather than silently charging nothing.
What happens if a patient leaves before seeing the doctor?
Cancelling a visit for a patient who leaves unseen cancels its unpaid bill along with it, and needs a short reason recorded. Once any payment has been taken against that visit, it can no longer be cancelled outright — it has to be settled or refunded through billing instead.
