Appointment Scheduling Software for Hospitals
Walk-ins are only part of the OPD queue — most established hospitals also run booked appointments against specific doctors. Trisvio keeps a doctor master, lets reception manage a day schedule per doctor, and turns a check-in directly into an OPD encounter.
Appointment scheduling books a patient against a chosen doctor and day, tracks reschedules, cancellations and no-shows, and converts a check-in straight into an OPD encounter.
- Who uses it
- Reception books, reschedules and checks patients in; doctors see an organised day list; admins track no-shows and cancellations.
- What it records
- Doctor, patient, date and status (scheduled, in progress, completed, cancelled or no-show) for each appointment; a reschedule moves the booking to its new date.
- What it prints / exports
- No separate print — a checked-in appointment becomes an OPD encounter, printing whatever that visit prints.
- Works with
- OPD Management, Patient Registration
What you get
- A hospital-scoped doctor masterDoctors are set up once against the hospital, so appointment booking always works against an accurate, current list of who is available to see patients.
- Book against a doctor’s dayReception books a patient into a doctor’s schedule for a given day, keeping the appointment list organised instead of a phone diary or paper register.
- Reschedule, cancel, or mark no-showPlans change — an appointment can be rescheduled to another slot, cancelled, or marked as a no-show, so the day schedule always reflects what actually happened.
- Check-in converts straight to OPDWhen the patient arrives, checking them in converts the appointment into an OPD encounter (tagged with its appointment source), carrying the patient and doctor details through without re-entry.
How it works
Set up the doctor master
Doctors available at the hospital are set up once, scoped to that hospital, as the basis for booking.
Book the appointment
Reception books a patient against a chosen doctor and day, adding them to that doctor’s schedule.
Manage the day schedule
On the day, reception can reschedule, cancel, or mark a no-show as patients confirm or change plans.
Check in to OPD
When the patient arrives, check-in converts the appointment into an OPD encounter, source-tagged as an appointment visit, ready for consultation — and charged the same way any OPD visit is.
Who uses it
- ReceptionistBook patients into a doctor’s day schedule and manage reschedules, cancellations, and no-shows from one screen.
- DoctorSee a clear, organised list of the day’s booked patients instead of a phone diary or paper appointment book.
- AdminMonitor appointment flow across all doctors, track no-shows and cancellations, and keep front-desk operations visible.
In detail
A schedule that reflects what actually happened
A day schedule is only useful if it stays honest. Cancellations and no-shows are recorded as distinct statuses, and a reschedule moves the booking to its new slot, so a doctor’s day list — and any later look-back at how many patients didn’t show up — reflects reality rather than the original plan.
Check-in becomes the visit, without re-typing anything
Checking a patient in doesn’t create a second record alongside the appointment — it converts the appointment itself into an OPD encounter, carrying the patient and doctor across and tagging the encounter with its appointment origin. From that point the visit behaves like any other OPD encounter: vitals, consultation, prescription, and a consultation charge created automatically the moment the visit starts.
One doctor list, used everywhere
The doctor master behind appointment booking is the same one the rest of the hospital uses — there’s no separate "scheduling doctors" list to keep in sync with who’s actually seeing patients in OPD. Add or update a doctor once, scoped to the hospital, and both the appointment book and the OPD consultation screen reflect it. For a hospital running mostly booked appointments rather than walk-ins, that keeps the day schedule and the actual clinical workload looking at the same underlying list.
Frequently asked questions
How is a doctor’s appointment schedule managed?
Doctors are set up in a hospital-scoped doctor master, and reception books patients against a chosen doctor and day. The day schedule can be adjusted with reschedule, cancel, or no-show as plans change.
What happens when a patient with an appointment arrives?
Checking the patient in converts the booked appointment directly into an OPD encounter, tagged with an appointment source, so the doctor sees the patient in the OPD queue without reception re-entering any details.
Can an appointment be changed after it is booked?
Yes. An existing appointment can be rescheduled to a different slot, cancelled, or marked as a no-show if the patient does not show up, keeping the day schedule accurate.
Is a booked appointment billed before the patient arrives?
No. Nothing is charged at booking — the consultation charge is created only once the patient checks in and the appointment converts into an actual OPD visit.
Is the appointment book a separate doctor list from OPD?
No. Appointments are booked against the same hospital-scoped doctor master used elsewhere in Trisvio, so adding or updating a doctor in one place keeps both the appointment book and the OPD consultation screen consistent.
