Hospital Billing Software with GST

Billing touches every department of the hospital, and Trisvio keeps it in one connected ledger. Service-charge bills are GST-aware, payments can be recorded in cash, UPI, or card, and the daily collection report rolls up every revenue-generating module.

In short

Billing applies GST selectively across a single connected ledger — cash, UPI and card payments, advances, and a daily collection report spanning OPD, IPD, pharmacy and lab.

Who uses it
Billing staff build and adjust bills; cashiers record payments; admins review the daily collection report.
What it records
Every charge line and payment against a bill, with GST applied per line and the bill’s status derived from its payment ledger.
What it prints / exports
An A5 receipt per settled bill, and a daily collection report broken down by payment mode.

What you get

  • GST-aware service billingBills are built from service charges with CGST/SGST applied where applicable, reflecting that most clinical services in India are GST-exempt while non-clinical items are taxed correctly.
  • A bill editor and A5 receiptCharges can be reviewed and adjusted on a bill editor before it is settled, and every finalised bill prints as a clear A5 receipt for the patient.
  • Cash, UPI, or card — partial or multiple paymentsPayments can be recorded against a bill by cash, UPI, or card, split across partial or multiple payments, with the bill’s status derived from its payment ledger rather than tracked separately.
  • Advances and a daily collection reportPatients can pay an advance deposit that is applied to later bills or refunded, and the daily collection report breaks down the day’s collections by payment mode — pulling in pharmacy and lab revenue alongside OPD and IPD billing.

How it works

  1. Charges build the bill

Service charges from OPD, IPD, pharmacy, or lab accumulate onto a bill, with GST (CGST/SGST) applied where the service is taxable.

  2. Review on the bill editor

Billing staff can review and adjust the bill before it is settled, then print it as an A5 receipt.

  3. Record the payment

Payment is recorded in cash, UPI, or card — as a single payment, a partial payment, or across multiple payments — and the bill’s status is derived from what has been paid.

  4. Advances and daily reconciliation

A patient advance can be deposited, applied to a bill, or refunded, and the daily collection report shows the day’s total collections broken down by mode, across every revenue-generating module.

In detail

GST applied selectively, on one bill

Under Notification No. 12/2017-Central Tax (Rate), healthcare services provided by a clinical establishment or an authorised medical practitioner are largely exempt from GST. That exemption doesn’t cover everything a hospital bills, though — pharmacy sales, consumables and various non-clinical charges are taxable. Trisvio applies GST at the line level rather than to the bill as a whole, so a single patient bill can correctly mix exempt consultation and room charges with taxable pharmacy items on the same document.

Where revenue integrity comes in

Billing isn’t only about calculating the right amount — it’s also about making sure a charge exists in the first place, that discounts go through a second person, and that the day’s cash is counted against what the system expects. Those checks live under Revenue Controls, and they use the same bill and payment ledger described here.

Frequently asked questions

Is GST handled on hospital bills?

Yes. Bills are GST-aware with CGST/SGST applied where a charge is taxable, reflecting that most clinical services in India are GST-exempt while other billable items are taxed correctly.

What payment modes does Trisvio support?

Payments can be recorded in cash, UPI, or card, and a bill can be settled with a partial payment or across multiple payments. The bill’s status is derived from its payment ledger rather than tracked as a separate flag.

How does the daily collection report work?

It shows the day’s total collections broken down by payment mode, rolling up revenue from OPD and IPD billing as well as pharmacy sales and lab orders, so the front office has one reconciled view of the day.

Can a bill be discounted at the counter?

A discount has to be requested with a reason and approved separately by someone with the authority to approve it — never by the same person who requested it. See Revenue Controls for how that approval workflow works.
