Day Care Procedure
A procedure needing admission and a bed but not an overnight stay — admitted and discharged the same day.

A day care procedure occupies a bed and a theatre or procedure room but does not run past midnight — cataract surgery, dialysis, chemotherapy cycles, many endoscopies. It is an admission in every sense that matters administratively, and it is distinct from an outpatient consultation even though the patient goes home the same day.
Why it matters in a hospital
Day care sits awkwardly in most hospital statistics and most insurance definitions, and the awkwardness costs money. Counted as an outpatient visit, the bed use disappears from occupancy figures and the procedure may be billed at the wrong rate; counted as a full admission with a zero-night stay, it distorts average length of stay. Insurers also define day care narrowly and by procedure list, so what the hospital calls day care and what the payer will settle as day care are not always the same thing. Deciding how it is recorded, once, matters more than which choice you make.
How Trisvio handles it
Trisvio admits and discharges a day care patient through the same inpatient path as any other admission, so the bed use is recorded and the billing runs through the admission's bill — a same-day discharge is a stay of zero nights rather than a different kind of record.
