Empanelment is the agreement that puts a hospital on a payer's list. The payer — an insurer, a third-party administrator, a company, or a government scheme — accepts the hospital as a provider, fixes a tariff, and agrees to settle bills directly rather than the patient paying in full. Each panel is negotiated separately, with its own rate card and its own paperwork.
Why it matters in a hospital
Empanelment converts a hospital's patient mix and its cash flow at the same time. It brings volume that would otherwise go elsewhere, and it replaces payment at discharge with a receivable that ages. Many small hospitals discover the second half only after the first: revenue rises, collections lengthen, and the working-capital gap widens. The rates are also rarely the hospital's own tariff, so the same procedure earns differently depending on who is paying, and a hospital that does not track that per panel cannot tell which panels are worth keeping.
How Trisvio handles it
Trisvio bills corporate and credit patients against the hospital's own tariff and tracks what each owes with its ageing, so the receivable is visible per payer. It does NOT submit claims, handle pre-authorisation, or integrate with any insurer, TPA or scheme portal — that work stays in whatever portal the payer provides.
