The Casualty or Emergency Department is the round-the-clock unit that receives acutely ill, injured and trauma patients who need immediate assessment and stabilisation. In Indian hospitals it is often the entry point for accident cases, cardiac events and other emergencies, and it frequently feeds directly into admission or the operating theatre without the patient passing through a normal OPD queue.

Why it matters in a hospital

Emergency arrivals cannot wait for a routine queue, and the record created in the first few minutes — presenting complaint, vitals, time of arrival, what was done and by whom — matters for both the immediate treatment decision and for the medico-legal record if the case is later reviewed, which trauma and accident cases often are. A department that can't register and document a case quickly works directly against the clinical urgency it exists to handle. Even a hospital without a dedicated, always-staffed emergency unit still needs a clear, fast path for an acute arrival — deciding within minutes whether the case needs immediate stabilisation, a specialist referral, or can be safely triaged into the regular OPD queue.

How Trisvio handles it

Trisvio has an optional emergency module: quick registration of an unknown patient, a triage colour the nurse assigns (no automated scoring), an automatically charged emergency fee, and a medico-legal case register with an intimation print. The clinical record of the emergency visit uses the same consultation screen as OPD, capturing vitals and chief complaint, and the patient is admitted into IPD when a bed and ongoing care are needed.
